What's the difference between live online and in-person courses?
Manhattan Prep offers Complete Courses in-person at our centers and live online, through an interactive e-learning platform. We take pride in our online classes and their ability to provide the same top notch experience and expert instruction as our in-person courses. The course structure and content is exactly the same for both types of courses; the only difference is that our online courses take place in a virtual space. Our e-learning classroom allows for an engaging class wherein students can interact with their instructor and each other using text and audio chat, providing a robust Socratic experience.

How We Are Different
We stand out from our competition in two main ways:
Teacher Excellence: All of our teachers have a 99th percentile score on an official GRE® exam section, with a total score of 336 or higher out of 340. All teachers were selected on the basis of their ability to engage students in the classroom and bring life to the material being taught. The hiring process is extraordinarily selective; those who make it through are compensated at a rate of $100/hour, up to four times the industry standard. At Manhattan Prep, you’ll know that you’re spending your time learning from someone with a proven record of teaching success and achievement at the highest level of the GRE®.
Content-Confidence: Manhattan Prep’s unique curriculum emphasizes content mastery, in addition to essential test-taking skills and strategies. Each 3-hour class session covers a mix of Verbal and Quant topics, and is structured around sample problems and group exercises. Class sessions further develop the material learned in our Strategy Guides, preparing students to respond to questions quickly and accurately.
Testimonials
Are your instructors really that great?
Manhattan Prep has knowledgeable teachers who are fun, engaging and approachable. I really felt like I was learning rather than memorizing throughout my entire experience." — Student, Fall 2010 Course in NYC
I wanted to express my gratitude for your [instructors'] expertise, patience, enthusiasm, and overtime!" — Kira, Foundations of Math Workshop, 2010
Fine, but what are they teaching?
The math and verbal curricula are both very good, and the timed practice problems during each class give students a good idea of the time constraints they ought to be working with on the real exam. Just experiencing the class is sure to build up a student's confidence in taking the test and increase the student's score by a significant margin — it certainly has for me." — Student, Fall 2010 Live Online Course
The MPREP strategy of filling in holes in the foundation is effective. Though some prospective students might be skeptical, there are undoubtedly things that they have forgotten from their SAT days on both verbal and math." — Student, Fall 2010 Live Online Course
What about your books?
Absolutely top-notch. I never once saw books by Manhattan Prep recommended on these forums. I happened across these books one day when I was in Borders. There are eight volumes in the set — I picked up the one in the area I was weakest in. Highly recommend for those shooting for 1500+ on test day." — Posted by kg1984 on the Urch.com forums

"This book has interesting techniques which I had never thought of and I will use some of them. Unlike many other test-prep books out there, the writers of this book had a sense of humor." — Posted by Stephanie on Amazon.com

" I found the Manhattan Prep books incredibly helpful (and it comes with adaptive testing software). Each mini-book is a specific aspect of math or verbal, so I bought the books of things with which I had problems and it helped a lot." — Posted by Geekoric on the thegradcafe.com forums

I recently purchased the complete set of Manhattan Prep books, and they have been really helpful! I've used both Kaplan's prep book, and Manhattan Prep's books in my studies, and Manhattan Prep materials are by far more detailed and instructive." — Amanda, Manhattan Prep Complete Prep Set
But will they get me the score I need?
I just wanted to let you know that I took my GRE® and doubled my score from this past summer. This would not have been possible without your guidance. I really appreciate all of your time and patience, and truly thank you!!" — Tara, Fall 2010 Course in NYC
I put in the work, but it was Manhatan Prep that got me to the 1400 level." — Karida, Set of 8 Strategy Guides
[The course was] fun, thorough, and essential in getting a great score." — Student, Fall 2010 Course in NYC
So overall, a good experience?
I honestly could not have done this well without the help of Manhattan Prep. The program really gave me the confidence to study effectively and your classes actually kept me INTERESTED in math!" — Michelle, Winter 2010 Course in NYC
I sincerely believe that your class has helped a lot. And you really are great at what you do. It is hard to conceive of anyone who would do a better job. I will convince my younger brother to take your course when he graduates." — Suliman, Fall 2010 Course in NYC
