I did this : x(square ) - y(square ) = (x+y) (x - y) looking at the condition given in the problem and the statements (i thought they were clues ) condition is in the form x(square) - y(square ) STATEMENT 1: is in the form (x + y) without the help of STATEMENT 2 , using STATEMENT 1 alone we can find...

Re: What is the value of x?

If you simply the STATEMENT 2 alone you get x + 2y - 4 =0
which is the same as STATEMENT 1 ...so the answer is E

Because both are the same equations , they are not two equations and two variables

i used to make this mistake ...the quadratic equations can be disguised so simplify

Re: Large exponents on GMAT

As far as i understood the problem... Is this somehow related to units digit patterns ...? can it be solved based on that logic ...? OR what is 7^2013 minus 3^2019 all over 21^-2113? 21 can be written as ( 3 * 7)^ -2113 {(7 ^ 2013) (3^2113 ) (7^2113)} - {(3^2019)(3^2113)(7^2113)} 3^2113 { (7^2113)^2...
