{"id":4714,"date":"2012-10-16T13:19:26","date_gmt":"2012-10-16T17:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.manhattanprep.com\/gre\/blog\/?p=4714"},"modified":"2019-08-30T16:46:14","modified_gmt":"2019-08-30T16:46:14","slug":"the-gre-continues-to-be-relevant-for-business-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.manhattanprep.com\/gre\/blog\/the-gre-continues-to-be-relevant-for-business-school\/","title":{"rendered":"The GRE Continues to be Relevant for Business School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ETS distributed <a href=\"\/\/www.ets.org\/newsroom\/news_releases\/gre_acceptancehttp:\/www.ets.org\/newsroom\/news_releases\/gre_acceptance\">this press release<\/a> last week with an update on how the GRE is being used as a GMAT alternative for business school applications.\u00a0 There is not too much new information in this release but a few things caught our eye.<\/p>\n<p>The big news is that more than 1,000 business schools now accept GRE scores.\u00a0 This follows the pattern that we&#8217;ve seen over the past two years \u201c the relevance of the GRE as a business school test continues to grow.\u00a0 The press release also includes a sampling of quotes from business school admission directors affirming the validity of the GRE as a GMAT alternative.\u00a0 These quotes match up with what we have heard from admission officers.\u00a0 There is ample evidence that the GRE can be used for most business school applications in place of the GMAT.\u00a0 As always, <a href=\"\/\/www.ets.org\/gre\/institutions\/about\/mba\/programs\/\">check the list of schools accepting the GRE<\/a> before choosing to take it for your b-school application.<\/p>\n<p>The release also specifically notes the success of the new ScoreSelect option.\u00a0 As we <a href=\"\/\/www.manhattanprep.com\/gre\/blog\/index.php\/2012\/04\/25\/gre-news-scoreselect-and-how-it-helps-you\/\">mentioned<\/a> earlier this year, the ScoreSelect feature is a student friendly addition to the GRE score reporting policy that allows students to only report their best GRE score out of multiple attempts.\u00a0 While most schools never frown upon multiple GRE attempts, we believe this feature to have a psychological benefit to students. \u00a0The idea that a GRE score isn&#8217;t <em>on your permanent record<\/em> helps to take a bit of test-day pressure off students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ETS distributed this press release last week with an update on how the GRE is being used as a GMAT alternative for business school applications.\u00a0 There is not too much new information in this release but a few things caught our eye.
