For any upcoming editions ;) :

Second distinction between Quantity A and B reads:

Quantity A

x + y
NEGATIVE + NEGATIVE = NEGATIVE

The text underneath, however, says:

If x and y are positive, Quantity A...

Copy-and-Paste-typo from the first distinction which regards the case in which x + y must always be positive.
