On the Algebra Book p.146 number 10

by dddannie6 Mon Aug 05, 2013 3:10 pm

The question is as follows:

At a graduation, guests sit in rows such that there are p people in the first row, p+1 people sit in the second row, p+2 people sit in the third row, and so on. How many more people sit in row n that in the second row?

A) n+2 B) n+1 C) n D) n-1 E) n-2

I have no idea where row n came from or where it is relative to the pattern that is presented. Because of this I have no idea, how to set this up.
