The explanation for this question shows that F is the bisecting point of BE and AD.How did they conclude this ?

Hey Mani,

ABDE is a rectangle (because of the right angles and the fact that BA = DE). BE is a diagonal. Because BC = CD, C has to be equidistant from B and D. Because BC is parallel to DF, F is also equidistant from B and D. And because it's on the diagonal BE, it has to also be on the diagonal DA. The only place those diagonals could meet is the center point of ABDE.

Hope that helps!

Hey Tommy,

This is one of the hardest problems in geometry I've ever encountered in my studies for the GRE. Do you have any idea where I may be able to find other similar problems which are multiple-inferences-oriented like this one?

Hey FB,

If you don't feel like our book has more questions like that, I really wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes we push questions to the absolute limit of difficulty (so that nothing on the actual GRE comes as some kind of major surprise); but if you haven't seen other questions that you find equally hard, it's probably just because that question was a little bit out of the realistic range. But if you really want more really hard geo questions, you could check out our GMAT geo book, which is similar but harder. (But I don't think you need it!).
