Geometry Guide # 3, Drill Set 2, Page 179, Problem 9

by divinedookie Tue Oct 21, 2014 9:39 pm

Hi, I was wondering how we can conclude that angle ACB is the largest angle based on the information provided? Given the information, we can deduce that the third side of the triangle cannot be greater than 11, but also not smaller than 3. Based on that we also deduce that angle BAC is the smallest angle. But I am not sure how we can deduce that angle ACB is the largest angle, and therefore that the third side, which is opposite of angle ACB, has to be 10.

Thank you very much.

Hey Divine,

The question actually tells you that z is bigger than y is bigger than x, so it's stated in the question which angle is largest.
