QC book, #7, page 59

Question about combining the terms in the denominator. After we get the common denominator, we have to subtract the numerators. Do we always assume parenthesis around a fraction's numerator when subtracting fractions like this? It seems like we do, otherwise it would be 1-x-1=-x rather than 2-x. So, when we are subtracting fractions, do we always assume there are parenthesis around the numerators?

Hey Dan,

Great question, and yes. They love testing the issue of double negatives in this way, because a lot of people miss it.
