Taking breaks

by akano.olabisi Thu Nov 13, 2014 9:19 pm

Please I have a question regarding tactics on taking breaks. I noticed that in the practice tests I have seen so far, the test gives you as much time as possible to read the instructions. It seems if you just stay on that page for as long as you want, you still get your 30 or 35 minutes for your math or verbal section. Is this correct? If so, then the idea that you only get a 1 minute break in between sections doesn't always have to be true.

Hey Akano,

No, on the real test, the instruction slides have countdown timers, unfortunately. I don't know how long they are, but they are not infinite. : )

Akano,

The one-minute break is between sections. Once the time begins for the next section, it will count down, regardless of what screen you are on.

The best practice would be to be completely familiar with the instructions, question types, and answer choices ahead of taking the exam. For instance, in Math, knowing all four answer choices for Quantitative Comparison (i.e. A = A is bigger; B = B is bigger; C = Both values are the same; D = No relationship can be established). That way, you spend little to no time on the exam itself.

I hope this helps,

- Steve
