The stimulus: the only difference between 2 groups is one has gene 1 and the other gene 2. The mad scientists force high-cholesterol food down the throats of everyone, and this has no effect on group 2, but group 1 shows more cholesterol in their blood. And, we're told, high cholesterol is associated with an increased risk of heart disease (but, as usual, we're not told what causes what - perhaps they're both caused by something else).

(E) is strongly supported and it's rather wimpy. Gene 2 MAY inhibit blood cholesterol. It may...Hard to argue with "it may."

(A) is unsupported - we don't learn about the general population
(B) is also unsupported. We don't learn whether a certain diet can lower risk - we never learned what causes what.
(C) is unsupported - how are we to know how gene 2 does its magic?
(D) is reversed. The folks with gene 1 have a higher risk!
