Q10 - The terms "sex" and "gender" are often used

by Mikey Tue Feb 09, 2016 4:27 pm

I got down to answer choices A and D, but I chose A because of how much the author focuses on gender traits. I see how D is correct but I still don't understand why A isn't a good choice.

The author's main point here is that the terms are not the same. That is (D).

(A) leaves out any mention of the term "sex" and brings in the claim that "gender" can be arbitrary, but the stimulus doesn't say that. "Arbitrary" is totally different (and much more sweeping) than just saying "could be masculine or feminine."

(B) is not the main point, nor does it mention "sex."

(C) and (E) are totally off base.

Hope this helps!
