SuperPrep C,S2,Q22-One can be at home

by b91302310 Sun Dec 05, 2010 7:27 am

I could figure out why C is the best answer, for the reason that the other answers are not good. However, I still don't understand the exact reason for the correctness of C. After going through the explanation from SuperPrep, I felt that to understand the explanation is more challenging than to answer the question itself.....

Could any one help ?
Thanks.

(C) just means "these statements do not contradict."

The claim referred to essentially says
you can be home and not in your house, which is also to say
you can be not in your house and be home, which is to say
being home and being in your house are different things (have no definitive relationship).

The conclusion says: it's NOT true that "house --> home."

Thus, while the claim is not "required" to draw that conclusion, the claim and the conclusion essentially agree, which is to say they are compatible.

By the way, it's incredibly unlikely that you'll see a question like this on a modern LSAT. I don't speak for the company here, but I personally don't see much value in working with the superprep tests.
I host free online workshop/Q&A sessions called Zen and the Art of LSAT. You can find upcoming dates here: http://www.manhattanlsat.com/zen-and-the-art.cfm
