Q15 - Humans are supposedly rational

When I encountered this problem, I did not see the flaw, and I answered A. Now that I am reviewing it, I think the flaw is that just because humans do not display rationality in one activity (polluting the world's resources), it does not mean that they are irrational. It is extreme to make this jump just based on one instance.

Would this be correct?

Q25 - To get the free dessert

Why is (B) wrong? It seems very similar to (C). Is it because of the "want" instead of "can"?

What is an analogy?

I get very confused about the differences between an analogy, metaphor and simile.

"reading fiction is like watching a sitcom; it's just wasted time"

Is that an analogy because first there is the simile part(like watching a sitcom), but then it also EXTENDS out and implies a similarity shared by the two??

"reading fiction is a sitcom which we watch. it's just wasted time"

this time its a metaphor - but is it still an ...

Q24 - Folklorist: Oral traditions are often

Here the Folklorist concludes oral tradition is often more preferable than written. Why?

Your goal is to find a principle that helps establish this.

Evidence:
Oral helps improve memory.
Written can lead populations to become sluggish
Written can lead to confusion between reader and writer
Oral helps get rid of useless and irrelevant info.

Q1 - Powell: Private waste-removal companies

Powell says that Private waste-removal is more efficient. His reasoning is the statistics he cites.

Freeman does not disagree with his conclusion but says his conclusion is not justified. He does this by attacking an assumption of Powell's. The idea they are serving customers with same needs.

Freeman says that, since they choose their customers that helps them in costs. He could just as well finish and say this is why they are more efficient. ...

Q20 - A study of rabbits in the 1940's

Correct = (A)
Question Type = ID Flaw

Argument:
A study of rabbits in the 1940's showed that parthenogenesis (P) occurs in mammals. But the study method has been shown to be flawed, and no other studies since then show that P occurs in mammals.

However, P is known to occur in some non-mammals, therefore something about mammals causes them (mammals) not to exhibit P behavior.

Assumption: Because no studies show that mammals exhibit P ...

Q12 - Critic: A novel cannot be

I approached this question as a Sufficient question type. Though I was initially confused by the use of the word "necessary" in the prompt.

Correct Answer (C)

Novel cannot be of Highest quality unless most readers are emotionally engaged with imaginary world...
- not Emotionally Engaged --> not High Quality
- High quality --> Emotionally Engaged

Shifts of narrative point tend to make readers focus on author -- which detracts from work (quality of work) ...

Q22 - In an experiment, two-year-old boys

Would love to hear an explanation of B vs. D. I got rid of D b/c of the plurality of utensils. Also it seems that we do not know whether or not they would be able to correctly identify other utensils or not because they were only asked to identify the rolling pins.

Jim Halpert of "the Office" a Manhattan student?

I swear that is him on the front page of this site taking an LSAT course! That might even be his girlfriend from when he worked at the other branch (what's her name?) sitting across from him. I'm less sure of that though
