Re: Q13 - In 1988, a significant percentage

I would have to agree with the previous poster. The conclusion states that the higher death rate was presumably attributed to a higher level of pollutants ingested by Baltic seals. The credited answer, (E), does not address this correlation between higher incidence of death among Baltic seals and hi...

Re: Q4 - Sydonie: Parents differ in their

Hey Alanna. Let me try my hand at an explanation for why (C) is the correct answer. It is a subtle inconsistency in Stephanie's reasoning that makes her argument somewhat porous. Let's first look at Sydonie's main point - that is, disciplinary structures in school is bound to create resentment becau...

Re: Q20 - Council member: The profits of downtown

Might this one be solved properly by formal logic? Interested in seeing someone else's formal approach to this question.

Re: Q21 - Most opera singers who

Hey guys. A quick question that arose in my analysis of this question. I was under the impression that combining two "most" statements allows us to infer "some", not "most". However, if we are to combine the statements from the first and fourth sentences in which the co...

Re: Q4 - Child psychologist: Some studies

I fully agree answer choice (B) is the correct answer, but I have a bone to pick with answer (E). The question's conclusion explicitly states that it is the process of playing violent video games that leads children to normalize the belief that aggressive behaviour is acceptable. Answer choice (E) i...

Q12 - The government is being urged

I'll try my hand at this one for those folks struggling to decode it. Background information: The government is being pressured to put the kibosh on those human nutrition organizations advocating a diet that includes large amounts of meat, because eating uncooked meat can be dangerous. Intermediate ...

Re: Q19 - Consumer Advocate: In some countries, certain produce

In a very condensed form, the argument asserts that one should avoid irradiated foods for reasons 1, 2, and 3. Any choice that will attack these premises in which the author's argument depends will be a valid choice, and thus cannot be the correct answer. The correct answer will be a choice that doe...

Re: Q24 - The local radio station will

I'm going to phrase this one using a very similar method as Aileen. A simple way of finding the correct answer to this question is by approaching it from a broader, structural perspective. The stimulus posits a temporal relationship predicting what will occur in the future based on past events. Spec...

Re: Q14

Be careful when evaluating the answer choices. Answer choice D is the opposite of what the author claims. The passage says that "Real lives, in fact, do not easily arrange themselves as stories that have recognizable shapes", then the proceeding quote goes on to present an example of this....

Re: Q26 - Commentator: For a free market

Here's how I solved this one. The argument boils down to an important conditional statement in which our answer derives. We're looking for a sufficient assumption in order to validate our argument. P1: For a free market to function properly, each prospective buyer of an item must be able to contact ...

Re: Q4 - Computer manufacturers and retailers

Just to expand on the answer choices: A)"Purposes" of computer components is irrelevant to the argument. Does this impact our conclusion that these various components are an obstacle to using computers? It doesn't. B)This is tempting, but incorrect. While it may appear that obtaining these...

Re: Q23 - Columnist: Although much has been learned

Also take note of the language in answer choice A, which states "it is strongly in our interest to preserve certain plant and animal species. This does not match up with the argument's conclusion that we should try to preserve the maximum number of species. We can reasonably equate maximum with...
