Re: Q19 - Many people change their wills

I am stuck between A and B... I understand that the solution proposed is not a complete solution, as the last will drawn up may still be lost. However, I chose B (twice) due to the final sentence which concludes "for then there would not be a problem to begin with". As B proposes, the conc...

Re: Q24 - When the rate of inflation

Is B wrong (and the explanatory power of A and D as well) because we're not talking about a series of calculations, but rather a one-time calculation?? Since the results of this one time calculation does not conform with the results necessary for the most profitable investment, C is correct? Please ...

I chose E and I'm still unsure as to why it's incorrect (though I see the logic behind A). Could someone please explain why E is wrong?
Thank you.

Re: Q26

I can't figure out how D is justified... D sounds more like Dworkin's suggestion, which is based on a critique of the positivists. For D to be correct, it would have to be a *mutually agreed upon* interpretation about the *social convention* on which meaning of the law rests. D states neither of tho...

Re: Q12

I don't understand why D is incorrect (note, D is not talking about the family in the last paragraph, but rather Puerto Rican Americans in general). If they use mostly English in the presence of situational factors that would lead one to expect mostly Spanish (as is stated in D), then why is that no...

Re: Q20 - Social critic: One of the most important ways in which

I chose B and I am still stuck between B and D..the same reasoning seems to support both. My reasoning for B is such: the argument reasons that because socialization causes shame and therefore suffering in MANY people, it has a net effect of increasing suffering. But just because it CAN cause suffer...

Re: Q22 - All highly successful salespersons

I chose the correct answer, but I don't see why A is incorrect... I think it may have to do with my misunderstanding the role of negated sufficient conditions, in which case I would really appreciate if someone could clear this up for me. I diagrammed it as follows: well-known --> High success --...

Re: Q16 - Anyone who believes in

I don't understand why the order matters.

I chose E over A because of the wording (beliefs), but that issue aside, I am having difficulty understanding why it is important to match the order (centaurs then unicorns or unicorns then centaurs) in the two arguments.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Q23 - Every brick house on River Street

I had trouble diagramming and finding the appropriate flaw on this one because of the relationship between first and second statements: every brick house on River St. has a front yard, and most houses on River St. that have front yards also have two stories. Had the second sentence said "most B...

Re: Q24 - Sometimes one reads a poem

I have a lot of trouble visualizing this one. I narrowed it down to D and E, and got lucky. Can someone diagram this one please? The main gap I see is that the ideas of readers may not be the ideas of the author. So just because a reader believes that contradictory ideas are expressed, they may not ...

Re: Q11 - “If the forest continues

Two questions: First, what is the answer to Noah's challenge, beginning with : "The koalas survives..." ? Tried, but am at a loss... Second, every time I try writing the politician's claim, I wind up with: koala ---> forest (or stop deforestation). The "needed" is throwing me ...

Q6 - Contrary to what many people believe, the number of spe

I chose C over A because C makes the decrease in number of species explicit. Is the problem with C that the majority could have gone extinct ages ago, and not in the past several centuries? Although A was a close second, I saw it as weak because it could just be a single exception...one year with a ...
