Re: Q6

Hi CalvinC566, I initially picked D as well, and it took me a while to figure out why it was wrong--in my blind review I picked B, so I'll go over that too. So if you look at the paragraph it first defines what natural selection is, then presents the strict constructionists' view (If SC are right --...

Q22

This question gave me pause so I will go over why each answer is wrong, spending the most time on B and D, the two serious contenders for this question. Here we are asked to go over what the main point of one of the paragraphs of the passage is, and if you have a pretty good working of PEAR this mig...

Re: Q25

Hi! So the line definitely does specify that legal positivism is "the more popular of the two theories" but the paragraph does not touch on WHY this is. It is too much of a leap that to decide legal positivism is popular BECAUSE "[t]he judge's interpretive role is limited" since ...

Re: Q13

Hi there, I feel like the only reason I got this answer right was because I read the book (which is not something I can count on for test day!). While I eliminated A,C, and E easily, I could not figure out out why the language implied that Chopin didn't rely more on fantasy, but the dream world, as ...

Re: Q8

I got this right initially and then wrong in blind review. While this is marked as "easy" I found it to be quite challenging. D is quickly tempting because in the first paragraph we have the line 5-8 "Though her attention shifted from smaller objects to the very large, she always focu...

Re: Q6

For me the key word in this question was “all.” We know that the policy stated in the third paragraph is clearly not all fires started by lightning—only fires that are started when the weather is damp enough. This was the only way I ended up eliminating A and B.

Re: Q11

So I also got it down to D and E, and finally down to E. This is because D is a half-right half wrong answer. Would the economists agree with the statement that a community's moral judgement of crimes is irrelevant? Absolutely. See lines 18-19. However, the second half of the choice is where it all ...

Re: Q19

My understanding for eliminating A was two-pronged. For one thing, we can't get any support for "historical mainstream." B is only one example of a passage--and even if we could decide definitively that B is a part of this historical mainstream, how would we be able to say that this shows ...

Q7

For this question, I narrowed it down to B and D, and ultimately picked B. Here's my reasoning: While they are both implied, B is pretty directly implied: forests lead to fewer floods, prevent clogging rivers (lines 6-7). Thus forest make sure water-based transportation is not stymied by a flood or ...

Re: Q20

I agree and ultimately got E, but I have a question about A--more of a "how nit-picky is too nit-picky"? Passage B we know that this is true from line 50 Passage A--only says that it "strengthens the institutional legitimacy," not that this legitimacy is dependent on it. I had a ...

Q 25

I had a little trouble with this question, it was hard for me to decide between C and D C is what my gut told me to go with, however D was also a possible answer if we were just thinking about how the words were used or "functioned" in the sentence (forgive the pun). However, C was ultimat...
