Re: Q19 - Doctor: Medical researchers recently examined

why is C wrong What is "An effect that occurs" in this situation? It would be serious back pain. The "effect" being considered in the doctor's argument. What is "a particular phenomenon" in this situation? It would be a bulging/slipped disk. The "cause" being...

Re: Q22 - One child pushed another

I had a lot of trouble with this one, and still think A is a better answer than B. Here's how I interpret the argument: K: Knowledge of right and wrong I: Intent to harm W: Action was wrong If K, then (if I, then W). AKA if K & I, then W. Here's how I interpret the answers A and B. A. If K, then...

Re: Q2 - Artist: Almost everyone in this

For this question, I was thrown off because I identified two flaws. 1) The obvious one: Unrepresentative sample. 2) The less obvious one: An order of operations issue. Wanting (to be an artist, despite working a side job) is not the same as (wanting, despite working a side job), to be an artist. Bas...

Re: Q25 - Interior decorator: All coffeehouses and restaurants

Ha, this was a fun one. I got it wrong on my PT but see my mistake. For the question of why not C, here's a way you can think about it: Suppose: We have 6 restaurants and 4 coffee houses. They are all public places and are all well-designed. Each of the 6 restaurants has artwork and none of the 4 co...

Re: Q19

Just wanted to say, this is by far the hardest RC question I have faced so far, out of maybe 8 sections. This is the only question I've gotten wrong twice (once during the timed test, once during review). The two passages differ in so many different ways that it seemed like there were 100 different ...

Re: Q16 - The owners of Uptown Apartments

I'm not really satisfied yet with any of the explanations for why B is wrong. Can someone give it another shot? Here's what I saw as the structure of the stimulus: Owners have two choices: A (improve) or B (not improve). They want to choose B, because X (cheaper to not improve). However, consider fa...

Re: Q16 - Marife: That was a bad

I'm going to give a different interpretation of why A, B, D, and E are wrong, and why C is correct (and why this is nonetheless an objectively bad answer choice). A) Marife believes this, but we don't know what Nguyen thinks on the topic. B) Nguyen believes this, but we don't know what Marife thinks...

Re: Q20 - Astronomer: Earth was bombarded

The issue between C and D is indeed necessary vs. sufficient. Because of the many qualifiers in the argument, that can be hard to follow, as it was for me during the timed test. What I sometimes find helpful in these situations is thinking of hypotheticals to eliminate answers. C: It is certainly a ...
