Re: Q16

Regarding why A is wrong, I think it's because A is what the author implies from the psychological explanation, but we don't know whether "many lawyers" share that opinion.

Re: Q3 - The current sharp decline...

E is the best answer, but I think it is more like a sufficient assumption rather than a necessary one. Genetic diversity must be bad for the commercial honeybee, but it can do harm in many ways. Making them more vulnerable to adverse conditions is just one way. Maybe a limited genetic diversity lead...

Re: Q19 - Henry: Engines powered by electricity from batteries

hi, I think that "major cities" refer to important or large cities, but "urban pollution" is a problem of all cities. Reduction of the pollution in major cities does not necessarily lead to a reduction of the urban pollution as a whole, for all these locations may be all set in s...

Re: Q26

I also narrow down to B and E, and end up choosing E. I'm quite uncomfortable with the word "consequence" in B. I don't think it's a consequence, I would rather call it an application. "consequence" infers that the Dawin theory naturally has its implication on sociology. But in l...

Re: Q27

In my opinion, by saying "required", G suggests that the female qualities will help bring about future progress, and thus the female qualities are part of the cause. But "inevitably lead to" infers that the continuation of progress is the cause of these femal qualities. This may ...

Re: Q12 - Legislator: The recently passed highway bill is clearl

I got this question right, but misunderstood the legislator's idea at first. I once thought that the legislator infers the unpopularity of the bill from the unpopularity of its supporters. In other words, since its supporters are not as popular as they were, the voters will not like the bill these p...

Re: Q21 - Farmer: Farming with artificial fertilizers

Hi Laura, Thanks for your excellent explanation. But I think I still don't quite understand what D is saying. I didn't even understand the sentence structure... Can you help more elaborate on this answer? Appreciate your help in advance. In my opinion, "a consequence that would surely follow i...

Re: Q23 - An antitheft device involving an electric homing

I found A difficult to eliminate at first. Since the thieves cannot detect the beacon, they will tend to be less cautious after they steal the car, which will make them more likely to be apprehended. So I think A, C, and E all relate the decrease of thefts to the theives being caught. But E is the s...

Q11

Would you please elaborate a little bit on this question? I quickly eliminated A, C and E. The problem with A lies in "unique", and E is contradicted to the author. The last sentence of the passage seems to go against C. Then I hesitate to choose between B and D. Though I don't think B loo...

I chose A because I think what matters is whether such selfishness is threatening rather than how long selfishness has existed. Would you please tell me why the logic is wrong?

Re: Q11

Sure! We can eliminate (B) because of "usually very simplistic." The passage talks about films of the classical era focusing on story, but there's no support for the idea that the author thinks the technical elements were simplistic. (D) is supported by the last two sentences of the passa...

Re: Q1

I expected an answer like: "parallel computing is useful to solve computation-intensive problems". I narrowed down to B and C, and end up choosing B. I think the author is an advocator of the parallel computing model and he write the passage to praise it. Though B is narrower and foocuses ...

Re: Q24 - Over 40,000 lead seals from

At first I chose B because I took for granted that seals will also be destroyed when the documents were destroyed. Then if B is true, the real number of seals is much larger than the number of remaining seals, and since each seal represents at least one document, the number of document must be much l...
