Programs so use "are"

E for parallelism

the above poster's summary is basically correct, although i'm not 100% sure that "geared to" is incorrect.

by the way:

i smell a non-official problem.

if this problem is really FROM THE GMATPREP SOFTWARE, then please post a screen shot as proof. i would be astonished if this were really an official problem.

Ron, I have another doubt in this. Is "toward" correct or is "towards" correct?

ganurag83 - Check this link. May clear your doubt.

post7023.html?

My question to Ron - what should really hint us in picking 'are'? Programs?
It's very misguiding in this question.

I went ahead and read like this - 'The SMP of the Olympic Training Center, a complex where final tryouts are held for athletes representing the United States in the Olympics, is blah blah blah'

hmm?
"towards" doesn't appear anywhere in this problem. do you have a different version of it?

--

clearly "toward" is ok, since it appears in the correct answer.

nope. if there is ONE thing in this question that is absolutely clear, it's the subject of that verb.

"of the olympic training center" is ineligible, since it's a modifier.
"a complex where blah blah blah" is also ineligible; it's also a modifier.

therefore, the subject is "sports medicine programs".
100% unambiguous.

Ron, please can you explain why choice C is incorrect?
considering you mentioned "although i'm not 100% sure that "geared to" is incorrect"

If we intend to mean AIM AT then we have to use "Geared Towards" it sound better to me than "Geared To"
