Re: A CR question - Stringly support category

I don't think that E is correct. The author clearly states "However, doctors warn against employment of this simple strategy for recurring or particularly long-lasting headaches, even if such medication can provide relief." It means that the medicine is able to provide some relief from the...

Re: Astronomers have uncovered evidence that a star that

I have a doubt with the correct answer choice B. It states, "as the full moon exploded into view...". Does this not mean that the moon itself exploded? Without any comma, how can we assume that the star was the object that exploded? With option D, we find that the two structures "expl...

Re: Although at one time children’s programming had been

I would like to point flaws in the answer choices and the ways of improvement. Users and experts are welcome to provide their suggestions: A.Although at one time children’s programming had been limited to a few hours a week, now, however, there are at least four cable networks that dedicate themselv...

Re: Usage of "with" in modifiers!

I agree with the explanation offered for the usage of 'with'. I would like to know the rules governing the use of each and all. In the given sentence, we have the following choices: A. each had a written charter B. all of which had written charters C. all had written charters D. all had a written ch...

Re: Ranked among great mathematical scientists

By the methods of elimination, I was able to eliminate the options A,D and E because the structures were not parallel. Also, the usage of preposition 'on' in D and E appeared suspect. I narrowed down to B and C, and chose B only. My question is, why is C not correct? I rejected C because the structu...

Re: SC question

Can anyone tell me why should 'it' not be the subject of the clause? Why is A incorrect? Is the use of 'have' in C and D correct because it follows the parallelism: '..most of the country have..and,..' The modifier 'despite the rugged..' is added to deflect the attention from the main parts of the s...

Re: SC trade imbalances from gmat prep test

In the answer choices, the second part needs some clarification. reducing its/the/their trade deficit.. Is the usage of pronouns its/the/their correct? Wouldn't it create problems of correct reference? It could belong to any of : "ongoing trade imbalances", "China and Japan", &qu...

Re: SC: Several financial officers of the company spoke

I agree that the usage of subjunctive mood in A is correct. However, I felt that option B provides clear and unambiguous meaning. Why is the choice B not correct?

Re: Traces of cultivated emmer wheat have been found among

Sorry for bumping into an old thread. I have difficulty with the option choice E. It says that the two varieties of wheat are pretty similar unless scientific method is used. Does not it follow that wild wheat was first grown in SW Asia and similar variety was grown in nearby areas? The two varietie...

Re: MGMAT CAT CR WEAKEN

Why could not the answer be D. It mentions that public schools provide more opportunities for students to be accepted at colleges. E talks of a general trend. Students from farming background may not pursue further education at college but the same cannot be true of students from other family backgr...

Re: MGMAT CAT CR WEAKEN

I get it now. For answer choice E, I assumed that students at public schools will have a farming background and thus would like to continue their parental occupations. But this is not the case. These schools are located in rural areas where the population is mostly into agriculture. Thus, there are ...
