Are the Manhattan Math books in sequential order?

by mattwendzina Fri Jan 15, 2016 10:58 am

Hi there,

I haven't bought all the math books as I can neither afford them or have the time to study them all. However, I have bought 1 & 2, but rather than just completing all of 1 (algebra) first I have been going through both at the same time.
My question is whether they are designed to be studied sequentially as I have found there to be a fair bit of Algebra in the 2 book (FDP) in the question sections that I have been struggling with?

Second question (I should have asked this before purchasing)- With limited time available and limited Math skill which would be the best books to invest in studying?

Hey Matt,

To the first question, they are mostly self-contained, but we ordered them as is because it's the most logical order in terms of the issue you broached. That said, plenty of students study them simultaneously, and it shouldn't be problematic.

To your second point, there's no good answer. The test tests everything...so it would really be more a function of what you're good at/need the most work at, rather than prioritizing based on how many questions you might expect to see of one category or another.

Hope that helps!
