GRE locator service

by kar.ar.424 Fri Dec 05, 2014 1:23 pm

Hello,

Does anyone know what is the GRE locator service and how it works? I took the test once this year, for the first time, didn't do bad but I am sure I can do better. Now one university contacted me telling me that they received my name from the GRE locator service. I maled back with some questions but haven't asked them about this.

Hey Kar,

I don't even know what that is. But here's the official GRE page (https://gresearch.ets.org/gress/). It just looks like they share your stuff with some schools (there was probably some box to check about it when you took the test). If you're worried if it'll hurt you, the answer is no. Schools only care about your highest score, so even if they saw lower scores somehow, it wouldn't make an iota of difference to them.
