GRE Retake. Nervous!

by hrgarland27 Mon Jul 21, 2014 7:29 pm

I took the GRE for the first time back in May and did not get the score that I was getting while I was studying. It ended up being lower, much lower. How can I avoid this from happening again while I am studying to take the test again? I don't feel that I have a good indicator now on my progress. Tips?! Thanks!

Hey Hillary,

I actually don't see that you've taken any of the practice tests on our website. So exactly where were you taking tests that you see as scoring lower than the real test?

I was actually studying on my own. Which is why I am looking in to using the Manhattan Prep to help out. Do you suggest a particular study plan through Manhattan Prep since I have already taken the test?

Hey Hillary,

Hard to say. The simplest answer is to just take a class. That way you get all the books, a syllabus, a teacher you can talk to, a community of people who are studying with you, and a strict timeline. If you don't have 9 weeks, really your only option is what we call "guided self study," which is the books and the syllabus and access to online videos.

Good luck studying!
