GRE_SC: Could anyone help in getting the following sentence

Wow! This is a terrible sentence! Is this from a real test? If so, that's shocking? If not, where the heck is it from. You should definitely not use their materials anymore!

Anyway, the second blank is clearly "disciplined," because that matches up with the explanation of her hard work. The first blank is contrasted with this second blank, so it should be something that is the opposite of "disciplined." The closest match we get is "impulsive," which I assume is the answer. That's not really the opposite of disciplined, though, so I don't like this question much.
