by sajjan899 Tue Sep 04, 2012 11:15 pm

if anyone have been through such situation plz help
I gave my exam on 4th sep. My issue topic was "The surest indicator of a great nation is represented not by the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists, but by the general welfare of its people." But I think I misread it as "The surest indicator of a great nation is represented by the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists, but not by the general welfare of its people."
So how deep in trouble am I?
Help!!!

Hey Sajjan,

Two things.

Thing #1: I'm not sure I see what the difference would be between the two readings. The essay is asking you to weigh in on which is more important, the accomplishments of the folks they mention, or the general welfare of people. As long as you came down on one side or the other, you should be okay.

Thing #2: The point of the essay is to ascertain whether or not you speak English fluently, not whether you're an amazing writer. So as long as you discussed the divide in a coherent way, you're probably okay.

Good luck!
