Number props query

by fbmagnumopus Fri Nov 29, 2013 1:15 am

In the Number properties strategy guide, on P128, Q1-3 (3rd edition), I wanted to ask something - for question 3, we say that we don't really know the magnitudes of these numbers on the number line; therefore we can't make inferences about magnitude related properties. However, when they present # property questions like this, then do we not consider them as say, the x axis as in coordinate geometry and treat them as equally spaced if they appear to be equally spaced? I ask this simply because in the math conventions they say this about coordinate geometry problems. SO the kind of problem I pointed out doesn't fall into that category?

Hey FB,

A coordinate graph is a very specific thing. A number line is not the same as a coordinate graph, so there's no issue of scaled hash marks or anything like that.
