"People who make decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards are poor decision makers."
Taking decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards is equivalent to doing something wrong and then explaining yourself that in some or the other way you are right, just to lessen the guilt.
Good decisions makers are those who cover all their bases before making a decision, that is they apply logic before they think about emotions. Emotions makes a decision prejudiced in a way that it makes one choose the easier way around an issue rather than the one that is better in the situation. For example while buying a car one would set his budget before going out actually looking to buy them, but once you reach the showroom the salesman would entice you and your emotions of buying a much more expensive car. Now buying the car in your budget would be logical and help you have a planned future, but if one gives in to his emotions and buys the expensive car he would contrive later when he has financial problems. He could always explain himself that it was the right decision as one buys a car not everyday but that still does not make his situation any better now.
Emotional decisions more often than not are ones that are taken keeping in mind the comfort level and not the validity of the decision, one will always find a way to put logic to bolster the decision taken but that does not make the decision anymore feasible than it was.
Some might argue that logical decisions do not entertain the emotional or human side of the situation and is just black or white, but logic applied correctly can always bring about the ideal gray area required. On the other hand emotions are often obscure and do not correspond to what is ideal for us.
It can be comfortably said that 99% of the times one needs to think logically first and then maybe bring emotion into the picture because taking decisions based on emotion and justifying those decisions with logic afterwards results in bad and jaundiced decisions.
