Practise Test score quant score much less than raw score.

by raisamyuktha Sun Jul 31, 2016 5:33 am

Hi ,

I answered my first Manhattan test and scored a 164 in Quant and 165 in Verbal . My Verbal score matches with the number of question I got right ( I got 5 questions wrong) but my Quant score is way less than expected. I got just three questions wrong in the second section (no mistakes in the first) , I feel that Manhattan has scaled my score down a bit too much. I can understand getting 166 or 165 for 3 questions wrong in the second section but 164 is just too low. Please clarify if Manhattan scoring is consistent with the way ETS would score. If that is the case then it definitely is worrisome :?

Thanks
Sam

Hey Sam,

Nope! It's not remotely a 1 to 1 connection. The short answer is that the algorithm is actually WILDLY complicated, so you really shouldn't bother attempting to build some kind of correlation between number correct and score. Anyway, quant has much less room for error than verbal, so it sounds right to me.
