PT58, S1, Q11 - Recent studies indicate a

I chose:
e) The argument presumes, without providing warrant, that correlation implies causation.

Why can't it be letter e?

Great question, I also chose E at first and got it wrong. Then I put the argument into my own words and realized why (A) is right.

Think of it this way....

The more hamburgers you eat then the better you will sleep.
Some people sleep better without eating hamburgers.
Some people who eat hamburgers do not sleep better.
So there is no correlation between eating hamburgers and sleeping well.

Hmmm...so your taking those small exceptions of people who did not show a correlation and quickly jumping to the conclusion that there is no correlation after all?

What if some of those who do eat hamburgers do in fact sleep better....??? And this is what answer (A) says, "the argument ignores the possibility that some damage to the chromosome does in fact lead to schizophrenia".

I think (E) is wrong because it is not that it presumes that correlation implies causation but rather that the LACK OF correlation implies NO CAUSATION.

I hope that helped.

Thank you! Very helpful!

Also, sorry about including the question in my post! I clearly wasn't thinking about copyright laws.
