Q4

Having trouble with how D is answer to this question. I first picked E, but think its wrong b/c it says Copy law is "primarily", which may be too strong. If someone could help. Thank you.

We're asked to make an inference based on the passage.

(A) is is unsupported. The passage doesn't say anything about copyright law being one of the most complex areas of law.
(B) is also unsupported. We're not told courts have been inconsistent.
(C) likewise--nothing about this appears in the passage.
(D) is correct because we're told that in a recent case (line 1), which is also unique (line 18), the court dealt with the question of whether copies made at a copy shop and at a profit were protected by copyright law. Lines 40-50 describe how the court refined the law to address the question in this case. (D) is supported.
(E) presents a degree issue, as you noted, because of the word "primarily." We know that making published materials available for educational use is important, but so are all the other goals mentioned in lines 21-27.

“in any legal system” in answer choice A is too extreme to be justified.
