Q6

by opulence2001 Sat Jan 22, 2011 3:55 pm

Hello,

Can someone please explain why D is wrong. I was stuck between D and B and both look correct to me. I have gone over this one question and compared it to the rules so many times and I am still not seeing it.

Sorry! I was referring to Question 6, but I figured out that I mistakenly read D as Otto: Thursday, Saturday, not Wednesday, Saturday! Argh!

Even if you read Otto as Thursday, Saturday instead of Wednesday, Saturday...

...they both have the same error which would enable you to eliminate this answer choice.

It is stated in the game "On each of theese days at least one of the actors auditions for the parts."

Whether Otto reads as Thursday, Saturday or Wednesday, Saturday... in both scenarios, there is nobody auditioning on Friday, (note that you have to check Gombrich and Raines as well), and hence you can eliminate D as a possible correct answer choice.

Is there a typo in this question???

my answer say:

B) Gombrich: Thursday, Saturday
Otto: Wednesday, Friday
Raines: Friday, Saturday

Should Raines say "THURSDAY, Saturday"??

This is driving me crazy. Thank you!

Hmmmm...

My test has Raines as "Friday, Saturday" as well. Not sure why it would need to be "Thursday, Saturday", although either version would be legal.

Remember that the second rule only requires there to be ONE day that Gombrich and Raines both audition on, which is covered in the original answer (B) by Saturday. We don't need them to share Thursday also.

Please let me know if this clears up your question!

My mistake.

I thought the first rule "The first day on which Otto auditions is some day before the first day on which Raines auditions" meant that it had to be EXACTLY the day before. (which would require Otto to have Wednesday, and Raines to have the day after, which was Thursday)

I didn't realize it could be ANY day after. Wow this question is causing a lot of confusion for no reason!

Thank you for you reply though!
